2014 Gemini

Harvest: The grapes were harvested the end of August and early September 2014 with 23.3 degrees average brix, 0.62 total acidity, and 3.36pH

Fermentation: 100% stainless steel.

Oak Aging: 5 months in French oak, 20% new / 80% 1 to 2 year old Ailler from Treuil.

Organic: All fruit is organically grown in our estate vineyard.

The grapes were whole-cluster pressed, and the juice was fermented in a stainless steel tank at 45 degrees F for two weeks, then sent to barrel and aged sur-lie for five months with monthly lees stirring. 20% new French oak barrels help frame the wine’s prominent floral and citrus notes, while adding to its structure and age ability.

The 2014 Gemini begins with aromas of Meyer lemon, mandarin oranges, and wet stone, with a subtle underlying sweetness of vanilla bean. In the mouth, the palate is round and textured with flavors of candied citrus peel and a hint of pineapple, with a racy acidity that brings out the wine’s zingy minerality. This vintage of Gemini strikes an interesting balance between a round, voluptuous sur-lie aged wine and a crisp, clean stainless steel wine. The result is a tremendously food-friendly blend which should age brilliantly and continue to wow for years.

2013 Cabernet Sauvignon

Composition: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot

Harvest: The Cabernet blocks were harvested in five separate passes mid October

Oak Aging: 22 months in 50% new French oak barrels from Treuil cooperage (i.e. Aillier and Troncais).

Organic:  All fruit is organically grown in our estate vineyard.

The 2013 Volker Eisele Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of vineyard blocks from throughout the entire estate. Varying terrain, different clones, and different rootstocks produce a patchwork of flavor identities between the vineyard blocks, creating a blend that is essentially a snapshot in time of a dynamic, ever-changing vineyard. During the fall of 2013, each individual vineyard block was monitored for ripeness, and picked when the grapes had reached their full expression of ripeness.

In the glass, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep burgundy, with subtle purple undertones. Extroverted aromas of fresh raspberries, milk chocolate, and malted vanilla explode from the glass. In the mouth, the wine is round and lush, with dense layers of blackberry, black cherry, and the subtle spiciness of charred French oak. The tannins are broad and creamy, and linger well into the lengthy, sweetly smoky finish. ~Molly Lyman, Winemaker

An elegant, juicy 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Chiles Valley has 6% Merlot in the blend. The wine has a dark ruby/purple color, sweet tannin, loads of raspberry, strawberry and black cherry fruit, a touch of underlying soil notes, medium to full body and a supple, velvety mouthfeel. This is classy, elegant and seductive Cabernet Sauvignon made in a feminine style. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.

2013 Terzetto

Composition: 1/3 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1/3 Cabernet Franc, 1/3 Merlot, co-fermented

Harvest: The grapes were harvested September 28,  2013.  Brix:  24.7,  Acidity:  0.70,  pH:  3.54

Oak Aging:  22 months in 60% new French oak barrels from Treuil cooperage (i.e. Aillier and Troncais).

Organic:  All fruit is organically grown in our estate vineyard.

The wine is a rich ruby red in the glass, with lightly purple undertones. The nose is expressive with spicy black cherry, saddle leather, and a subtle, beguiling hint of roses. In the mouth, the wine shows lovely texture, with supportive, mouth-filling tannins that mingle well with flavors of mission fig, blackberries, smoky dark chocolate, and espresso. The wine is dense and supple, with a lingering, sweetly smoky finish.

The 2013 Terzetto Proprietary Red is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which are co-fermented from their vineyard in Chiles Valley. Nice raspberry and blueberry fruit, sweet tannin, velvety texture, medium to full body, beautiful purity, a floral component and overall a lovely, seductive and compelling style. Drink it over the next 10 years.
