“To use a light hand in crafting varietally-correct wines that make the taster think about where they were grown, and not who made them.”

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon

Volker Eisele Caberrnet

Composition: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot

Harvest: Five separate passes September 28th through October 13nd 2016.

Oak Aging: 22 months in 50% new French oak barrels from Treuil cooperage (i.e. Allier and Troncais).

Organic:  All fruit is organically grown in our estate vineyard.

Volker Eisele Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of vineyard blocks from throughout the entire estate.
Varying terrain, different clones, and different rootstocks produce a patchwork of flavor identities between the
vineyard blocks and their resulting cuvees, brought together in a blend that is essentially a snapshot in time of a
dynamic, ever-changing vineyard.

The 2016 Volker Eisele Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a brilliant ruby red color in the glass. The nose offers generous aromas of spicy black plum, boysenberry, and cassis, with subtle hints of cedar and clove. The wine is aromatically volatile in the mouth, with floral aromas and ample flavors of blueberries, blackberries, and dark chocolate supported by well-structured, supple tannins. The lengthy finish is supported by lingering vanilla and subtle clove.

This delivers a bright array of ripe blue and dark fruit on the nose with a wealth of rich, succulent length,
depth and detail. This has a lot to offer now but will also deliver in years ahead.
93 ~ James Suckling

…this wine opens slowly to reveal black olive, plum and a sinewy texture. It has balanced power on the
midpalate alongside a mix of oaky char, dark chocolate and clove that finish in unison.
92 ~ V.B., Wine Enthusiast

…bold, powerful and authoritative, with plenty of dark fruit to play off the muscular tannins. Inky
blue/purplish fruit, leather, smoke, graphite and scorched earth add attractive undertones throughout.
Brooding in personality and yet also very much mid-weight in feel, the 2016 has a lot to offer.

Harvest: The grapes were harvested September 28, 2018.  Brix:  24.5,  Acidity:  0.65,  pH:  3.73

Oak Aging:  22 months in 60% new French oak barrels from Treuil cooperage (i.e. Allier and Troncais).

Organic:  All fruit is organically grown in our estate vineyard.

This is a wine of elegance and finesse that fulfills our intentions; to reflect the style of wine that typifies Bordeaux varietals without any one dominating. The grapes from each varietal going into this dynamic wine are selected from specific areas throughout the vineyard based on meticulous planning and consistent farming techniques to encourage synchronous ripening. When the intersection of the three varietals’ ripeness is optimized, all varietals are picked and fermented together.

The 2018 Terzetto is generous with aromas from the start, with black cherry, saddle leather, wild blueberries, and a hint of violets. In the mouth the wine shows lovely balance, with broad but velvety tannins mingling with flavors of black plum, wild blackberry, and pipe tobacco. The density of flavors and fine French oak barrel spices persist throughout the lengthy finish.
